Public Hearings Tonight

At 6 p.m. tonight, the Planning Board is holding public hearings on three projects:
  • The Hudson Sloop Club's proposal for the Nack Environmental Education Center at the waterfront, a project that will include an information kiosk, an outdoor classroom, and storage;

  • Wm. Farmer and Sons' proposal to use the vacant lot at 26-28 South Front Street for private events for its guests;

  • A proposal to open a beauty salon in the first floor commercial space at 25 North Fifth Street.

Tonight, the Planning Board will have a new member, bringing the number of members just one short of the full complement of seven. Lifelong Hudson resident and activist John Cody, who grew up in the First Ward and was the president of SHOW (Save Hudson's Only Waterfront), the group that fended off the oil refinery proposed for the waterfront in the 1980s, is Mayor Rick Rector's most recent appointment to the Planning Board.

  1. Thanks Carole! Hate to say that I'll miss the meeting tonight. I was sworn in yesterday but only made aware of tonight's meeting this morning. I had a prior commitment. Future meetings are on the calendar. John C
